Information You Submit
Search Terms
When a visitor enters a name, county, state, or similar search term into a third-party search tool, that information is sent to the provider that operates the tool. Polk County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If you email us or send a contact message, the message and reply address may be kept long enough to respond, handle follow-up, and keep basic records of the exchange. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement makes disclosure necessary.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most websites, this site may receive routine technical data when a page loads. That data helps diagnose errors, protect the site, and understand general usage patterns.
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser type and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website, when a browser provides one.
- Date and time stamps for visits and requests.
Cookies
Cookies and similar browser tools may be used to measure how visitors use the site and to support advertising or analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not behave the same way if cookies are disabled.
How Data Is Used
Collected data is used for practical site operations and measurement, not to create an official inmate record or a consumer report.
- Keep pages available, usable, and reasonably fast.
- Send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
- Measure which Polk County inmate and court-record pages are useful.
- Find broken links, page errors, and other technical issues.
- Support advertising that may be based on broad visitor interests.
Outside Websites
This site links to sheriff, court, corrections, VINELink, BOP, ICE, and third-party search resources. Once you leave this site, the outside website's own privacy policy controls its collection, use, and sharing of information.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and show interest-based ads. That tracking occurs through the partner's tools, not through an official Polk County record system.
Who May Receive Data
Personal information is not sold as a mailing list or standalone product. It may be handled by limited recipients that help operate or protect the site.
- Search partners that process submitted lookup terms.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and page performance.
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when required by subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process.
Security Measures
Reasonable safeguards are used to protect information handled by the site, including standard hosting and access controls. No website, email system, or internet-connected service can be promised as breach-proof, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted personal information, contact us so the information can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.
Your Data Choices
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have choices about personal information that this site controls.
- Ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Ask that personal information be deleted when retention is not required.
